1. Who we are
This policy describes the privacy practices of Rocketship Creative, LLC (“we,” “us”), operator of Which Way, Wonder?, a digital subscription for interactive stories. We are based in Plano, Texas. Questions: [email protected].
This marketing site currently collects little or no personal information (it is static). The practices below describe the membership product we are building and how we intend to handle data when accounts and checkout are live.
2. Information we collect
When you create a membership we expect to collect:
- Account data from the parent, guardian, or teacher: name, email address, password (stored hashed), and optional reader nicknames or age bands you choose to provide.
- Usage data needed to run the product: which stories were started or finished, choices taken, device and log information for security and reliability.
- Support mail you send to [email protected].
- Payment data handled by a third-party processor, as described below. We do not intend to store full payment card numbers on our servers.
This website may use essential cookies or similar storage for login sessions once accounts exist. We do not run advertising networks on Which Way, Wonder?
3. How we use information
We use information to provide the subscription, authenticate the account holder, generate and remember stories, send transactional email (receipts, password resets), send optional parent/teacher updates about their readers, prevent abuse, and comply with law. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use children’s data for targeted advertising.
4. Children’s privacy
Which Way, Wonder? is designed for families with readers ages 6–16. The customer is the adult. We ask that children under 13 not create an account themselves.
In line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar rules:
- A parent or guardian must create and manage an account for a child under 13.
- We collect from children only what is needed to tell stories on a parent-managed account (for example, a first name or nickname you supply, and story choices).
- We do not require a child to provide a personal email, street address, or payment card.
- We do not condition participation on disclosing more than is reasonably necessary.
- Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about their child by emailing [email protected] from the account email. We will take reasonable steps to verify the request.
Readers 13–16 still use a parent- or teacher-managed membership. We do not offer a public social graph or stranger messaging.
5. Payments
When checkout is enabled, card and wallet payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor (for example, a service such as Stripe). The processor collects payment details under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive confirmation of payment, limited billing identifiers, and the subscription status — not your full card number.
Until checkout is connected, this website does not take payment.
6. When we share information
We share information with vendors who help us operate the service (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, error logging), under contracts that limit their use of the data. We may share information if required by law, to protect a person from harm, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, with notice where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
7. Retention and security
We keep account data for as long as the membership is active and for a reasonable period afterward to complete refunds, taxes, and legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No method of transmission is perfectly secure.
8. Your choices
You may update account details, cancel the subscription, opt out of non-essential parent update emails, or request access, correction, or deletion by writing to [email protected]. If you are in a place with additional privacy rights (for example, certain U.S. states or the EEA/UK), we will honor those rights as they apply, including the right to appeal a denial by emailing us again with the word “Appeal” in the subject line.
9. International visitors
We operate from the United States. If you use the service from elsewhere, you understand that information may be processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection rules than your home country.
10. Changes
We will post updates on this page and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be called out by email or site notice when we have a membership list.
